Just last week on Wednesday, June 15th we found a sea turtle nest out on Sand Island with 85 eggs and moved them to a better location near the pier on Dauphin Island. Discoveries such as this makes it feel like Christmas in the middle of summer. I hope you all make many discoveries just as exciting this month.

Hi, my name is Joan Turner and I’m going to teach you Oceanography and Marine Vertebrates. Last year I traveled to Oahu for a fun vacation. I earned my scuba certification and got to explore several cool sites on the island. This was one of them. Any ideas what created this tunnel that led out to the ocean? Think about what the Hawaiian Islands are and how they were created. It’s going to be a great summer! Hope you are excited to meet new people and experience new things - all while learning and understanding more about the ocean planet we live on! See you soon.
